Fonts Common to all versions of Windows, PLUS the Mac equivalents
On this page we have listed the standard set of fonts common to all versions of Windows, as well as their Mac substitutes, which are sometimes referred to as “browser safe fonts".
If you have very little experience in web design, you may well ask “Why must I be limited to this small set of fonts when I have a large collection of very appealing fonts on my computer”. Browsers can see only the fonts installed in the computer, so this means that to view the pages on your site exactly as you have them designed, every visitor to your web site needs to have all the fonts you use installed on his/her computer. Naturally, different people will have different fonts installed, and thus comes the need to have a standard set of fonts. Fortunately though, CSS (Cascading Style Script) allows a designer to set several values for the font-family property, which makes things a little more flexible.
